Coming January 6, 2018...The Frigid, a 6 hour Rogaine race...
We are mixing it up again with a new format for 2018! We love the rolling hills of Brown County, Indiana. Tucked away in one of the area's steep valleys is eXplore Brown County, a beautiful tract of land with several acres of forested ravines and trails perfectly suited for a winter Rogaine.
Get out for some winter fun with a race through the rolling hills - all while using a map and compass! The FRIGID is a perfect event for beginners to learn the fun sport of orienteering. There is a FREE navigation clinic offered to anyone who registers for either the day or the night event.
WHAT: A Rogaine is simply a race in which participants use a map and compass to locate checkpoints (CPs).
LENGTH: 6 hours - 3 unique loops
WHO: Solos & teams
REGISTRATION: $65 per person
This race is perfect for beginners (see information on the FREE navigation clinic below), but we've also dialed in a bonus point format and added a night event to keep veteran racers out until their toes go numb.
What is a Rogaine? A Rogaine is simply a race in which participants use a map and compass to locate checkpoints (CPs). The goal is to locate the most CPs in the allotted time. Sometimes CPs are assigned a point value according to their difficulty. Then the goal is to get the most points. There is no set course so you are free to choose any route you'd like.
If you'd like to give this type of race a try but aren't so sure about the whole navigation thing, you're not alone. We're confident, however, that with just a little instruction you can be proficient enough to start enjoying not only rogaining, but other navigation based events - like ADVENTURE RACING! If you'd like to learn how to navigate, then join us for the FREE Navigation clinic the evening before the race. We'll be happy to show you what's going on and answer any questions. See below for more details, or contact us if you have any questions about getting into this sport.
Each person must carry at all times: whistle, hydration, long-sleeve top, light.
Each team/solo must carry at all times: race number on back, compass, map, fully charged cell phone, emergency space blanket.
