eXplore Brown County on your Mountain Bike or Hike

Brown County, Indiana was voted one of the greatest areas to ride trails in North America by Bike Magazine in March 2009.  The area offers miles of flowing trails, scenic vistas and amazing terrain making this a world-class destination for mountain biking and quickly becoming a favorite Midwest destination.

eXplore Brown County has over 30 miles of challenging single and double track trails over some of the most rugged terrains in Brown County.  Our trails are slightly rougher with more ups and downs and less flow than the trails at the state park, which makes our trails very fun and challenging.

We are exceptionally bike friendly, and love having dirty, stinky and potentially bloody people come play and stay with us! We offer uphill  ATV shuttles by Q's Bikes for $3 per rider when available, areas to wash your bikes and gear, the ability to store them in your cabin or at your campsite, full service bike shop for repairs, bike sales and rentals, and plenty of open space for your car or truck with bike racks and room to accommodate your closest group of friends. Cost| $4 per person all day, all riders must check-in at the office prior to riding the trails.  Hot showers are available after your ride | $2 each.

We are centrally located and the closest facility to other bike trails in Southern Indiana: Nebo Ridge, Hickory Ridge, Gnaw Bone and Brown County State Park, a short ten minute drive. Stay with us and we will provide maps to all of the trails here in Brown County.

  • We require that all riders wear helmets while riding on our property, follow all trail signage and as always: Pack it in, Pack it out.
  • Our cabins and campgrounds can accommodate large groups and we have an event party hall that can be rented for events and additional activities.

From Our Fans…

“Trails more technical and fun that Brown County State Park”- Reviewed April 21, 2015 | 5 Stars

We found eXplore Brown County because the campgrounds at Brown County State Park were full.  What a lucky break!  We weren't able to arrive to the campground before 9:00 pm to check in, but I called ahead and they were extremely friendly and let me check in ahead of time.  The valley in which the campsites were located is gorgeous and the bathrooms and amenities were above average for a primitive campsite.  Very clean and organized.
We were in Brown County to ride the mountain bike trails in the state park, but as it turns out eXplore Brown County also has its own mountain biking trails with their own special old school flavor.  We met Gary, the trail builder, and he was nice enough to suggest trails to us.  We had a blast!
I would definitely suggest eXplore Brown County to any mountain bikers hoping to hit the trails--I even found that the trails at the campground were sometimes more technical and fun than the ones in the park, especially "Rollercoaster".  Definitely check it out!

Our Fans Have Said…

When you think of mountain biking in Brown County you immediately think of going to the State Park for a day of long flowie runs, man made obstacles, well made sustainable trails, which we love! But...what a treat when the State Park campground was full and challenged us to find other lodging for our bike club members that were driving 3 hours to ride our bikes for the weekend. A Google search brought us to eXplore Brown County and we have now changed our primary camping and riding destination location. Oh, we will still go to the State Park because we support the work of the Hoosier MTB Organization but from now on we will be camping and riding at eXplore BC. The trails were natural, steep and challenging. At first I was intimidated by "25 miles" of trails thinking I was going to ride crazy trails for the first time, but they are built to traverse the hills around the property so you are never more than a few miles from camp. We will definitely recommend eXplore Brown County to all of our mountain biking friends and have posted a link on our club Facebook page. Thanks for a GREAT experience!
