Paintball Safety Rules

Simple steps to make your game of paintball fun and safe:

1. Wear your mask at all times

  • When a game is being played, your paintball mask must be worn at all times
  • Do not remove your mask in the dead zone if the dead zone is within range of the field
  • Keep masks on until barrel plugs or socks have been placed back on all loaded guns
  • There are no exceptions to this rule
  • Remember that most severe paintball injuries occur because someone removed their mask at an inappropriate time

2. Do Not Drink and Play

  • You are not permitted on the playing field if you are under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or prescription medicine
  • You can only play if you are fully coherent

3. No Blind Firing

  • Do not fire if you can't see what you are firing at; i.e. do not stick your gun out and fire without looking
  • Blind firing can lead to accidentally shooting players who are leaving the field, referees, or other things/people you shouldn't shoot.

4. Surrenders

  • Offer surrender to any opposing player within twenty feet. Close-range shots are considerably more painful than shots from a distance
  • Accept surrender if another player has come within twenty feet and has a shot on you

5. Shoot Less Than 285 FPS

  • All paintball velocities will be under 285 (and generally under 280) feet per second (FPS)
  • We time and monitor gun speeds with a paintball chronograph
  • Automatic modes are not allowed. A paintball that travels at 280 FPS can cause small bruises, while a paintball that travels faster can cause significantly more damage including severe welts and broken skin

6. Always Use Your Barrel Plug or Sock

  • Whenever you are in an area when masks are not being worn, all guns should be pointed down and blocked with a barrel plug or barrel sock
  • Unless everyone has a mask on, do not take out your barrel plugs
  • Players should keep the safety on their guns engaged until they are ready to fire
  • Always keep the gun pointed away and down from unprotected players, including yourself

7. Common Sense Reminders

  • Don't shoot anyone’s private property
  • Don't shoot out of a moving vehicle
  • Don't look down the barrel of a loaded gun
  • Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire
  • Don't shoot yourself

8. Clothing

  • Wear long pants and long sleeves in several layers to provide extra padding
  • Knee pads and elbow pads can be helpful while kneeling or shooting prone
  • Wear a baseball cap backwards to protect the back of your head
  • Wear cleats or tennis shoes
  • We advise wearing clothing you don't mind getting dirty but our paint does wash out

All events are field paint only | minimum age is 8 years old

Only NPPL approved safety equipment is permitted

We reserve the right to ban and/or expel any player not following the safety rules
